Description
Chukku Dry Ginger Lakshmi is dried ginger, known in southern India as chukku or sukku, characterized by an intense, spicy aroma and a distinct, warming, and slightly pungent taste. Drying allows for a flavor profile different from fresh rhizome and makes ginger convenient to store and use as an aromatic spice. Chukku has a long tradition of use in Indian cuisine, especially in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It can be used to prepare masala chai, spiced coffee like chukku kappi, infusions, desserts, sweets, and homemade masala blends. Dried ginger pairs well with cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, pepper, and other aromatic spices, making it also suitable as an ingredient in spiced blends for both sweet and savory dishes. Depending on the product form, it can be crushed or ground before use or cooked together with other ingredients and then removed before serving. Due to its concentrated aroma, usually only a small amount is needed. Chukku is a traditional ingredient in many Indian recipes, but its historical use in infusions and Ayurvedic preparations should not be taken as confirmation of medicinal properties.
