Description

Fresh green chili pepper, also known as Green Chilli, Green Chili, or green chili, is one of the basic ingredients of many Asian cuisines, especially Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepali, Sri Lankan, and South Asian cuisine. Green chili peppers are harvested before reaching full maturity, which allows them to retain their characteristic green color, fresh vegetal aroma, and distinct spiciness. The exact botanical variety may vary between delivery batches, so without specifying a particular variety, the product should not be assigned a specific value on the Scoville scale or a fixed level of heat. Individual peppers can differ significantly in capsaicin intensity even within the same batch. In Indian cuisine, Green Chilli is used practically at every stage of food preparation. The peppers can be finely chopped and sautéed together with onions, garlic, and ginger, added to curries, dals, sabzis, rice dishes, biryanis, pulaos, chutneys, and marinades. Fresh green chili is also a popular ingredient in pakoras, samosas, fillings, sauces, and various types of street foods and snacks like chaat. The peppers can be used whole, sliced, chopped, or ground with other ingredients. Cutting the pepper and leaving its inner membranes can increase the perceived intensity of the spicy flavor in the prepared dish. Green chili pairs well with coriander, mint, lime, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, cumin, mustard seeds, and other spices characteristic of Asian cuisine. It is also a popular ingredient in fresh green chutney, where it can be combined with coriander, mint, and other additions. Outside of Indian cuisine, fresh Green Chilli can be used in wok dishes, soups, sauces, marinades, noodle and rice dishes, and anywhere fresh peppery heat is needed. The product can also be fried or grilled, depending on the chosen recipe. The green color does not mean a mild taste – some varieties of green chili can be very hot. Due to the natural character of the fresh product, individual peppers may vary in length, thickness, shape, shade of green, degree of ripeness, and intensity of heat.
