Description

Green lentils are a dietary staple in many parts of the world, especially on the Indian subcontinent, where they are popular among a large number of vegetarians. They have a green color, thin skin, and characteristic lentil shape. Green lentils are rich in protein, carbohydrates, and serve as an excellent source of calcium, phosphorus, iron, and B vitamins, making them an ideal meat substitute in vegetarian diets. They are particularly recommended for growing children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. Green lentils can be used in a variety of dishes such as soups, salads, bread (like naan), and vegetable dishes. They are perfect for making spicy curries, dal, kachori, and many traditional Indian recipes. After cooking, green lentils retain their shape and firmness, making them an excellent choice for salads. Unlike other legumes, green lentils do not require soaking before cooking, making them easy and quick to prepare. In addition to their nutritional value, green lentils are known for their health benefits. Regular consumption of green lentils can contribute to improved overall health and well-being. It is a great choice for those seeking a healthy, balanced diet. First rinse 1cup of green lentils in cold water. Wash it thoroughly to remove surface impurities such as dirt and drain the water. To reduce cooking time, optional step could be to soak it before in cold water for 30 minutes. It will yield 3 cups of lentils. Soaked lentils can be directly used in salad. Green lentils can be sprouted by covering the vessel with thick cotton cloth for 12 hours. Sprouting increases the protein value of the lentils. Now Place Green sprouted lentils in a closed pan with water and put it on a high flame for 10 minutes and let it partially cook. Now cooked green lentils are ready to prepare varieties of delicious Indian recipes.
