Description

Duru Pilavlik Bulgur is bulgur wheat with a grain size primarily intended for preparing pilaf and other dishes where a distinct, loose grain structure is desired after cooking. Bulgur is a traditional cereal product made from wheat and has been an important ingredient in Turkish, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean cuisine for many generations. In the production process, the wheat grain is processed, then dried and crushed to the appropriate size. The term "pilavlik" in Turkish indicates bulgur intended for making pilaf, which is why the grains are larger than in fine varieties used, among others, for salads or dishes like kisir. One of the most classic ways to use the product is bulgur pilavi – Turkish bulgur pilaf prepared in many regional ways. The groats can be cooked with onions, tomatoes or tomato concentrate, peppers, broth, and spices, as well as enriched with chickpeas, lentils, or vegetables. The finished pilaf can be served as a standalone dish or as a side to grilled and stewed meat, kebabs, vegetables, beans, and other Turkish cuisine dishes. Pilavlik Bulgur can also be used as an alternative to rice or other groats in everyday meals. It works well in one-pot dishes, fillings, soups, vegetable and legume dishes, and as a base for warm salads. The neutral cereal character of bulgur allows it to be combined with intense spices and aromatic additions. It can be prepared with cumin, mint, parsley, chili, garlic, onion, or tomatoes, among others. In Turkish cuisine, pilaf with the addition of tomatoes or tomato concentrate is often encountered, which gives the groats a characteristic color and flavor. The preparation method and water proportions should be adjusted according to the manufacturer's instructions and the specific recipe. After cooking, it is advisable to leave the groats covered for a few minutes if the chosen preparation method requires it, and then gently separate the grains. Duru Pilavlik Bulgur is a versatile ingredient suitable both for traditional Turkish bulgur pilavi and many contemporary dishes with vegetables, meat, and legumes.
